Today isn't just a normal Sunday. Of course, it's not just the BBQ and frisbee golf that make this day special, but rather the people we share it with. Here's a shout-out to all of the men in our life who have supported us, guided us, and most importantly loved us through the thick and thin of life.
Some of these men that we celebrate today are our biological fathers. Thank you for being here for us from birth to adulthood. We couldn't have done it without you.
Others, however, are relatives- grandparents, uncles, step-fathers, etc. They filled the void of 'father' for those of us who have none. We couldn't have done it without you.
And still others, with no biological ties whatsoever, swooped in to love us in through a very dark stage of our life, when hope seemed lost and despair was high. These men are teachers, are mentors, are friends, are irreplaceable. We couldn't have done it without you.
If you're lucky, your father-figure was there to support you as you found the person of your dreams. They prepared you for life as man & wife, as spouses. They walked us down the aisle, or winked at you as you stood up there admiring the woman of your dreams.
Today, we celebrate our Fathers of all kinds, whether alive or passed on.
