Now that all the major holidays are over, it's time to take some of our favorite fall weddings from hiding and blog them for all to see! I mean, what better way to ward off the winter blues then to dream about warm colors and gorgeous weather? Okay, pretty pictures don't magically fix everything - but hopefully it'll encourage a bit of daydreaming!
Sarah Grace & Sterling's fall wedding is one I have been dying to share. When we met them for their January engagement session, I knew they were a great fit for us. To them, the perfect wedding wasn't about the latest trends or keeping up with the Joneses, it was about creating a casual atmosphere of celebration with their closest family and friends. Even better, their perfect day took place in the very region that started their love story - the mountains of Western North Carolina.
We love how they transformed the already charming mountain lodge to become their completely their own. Aren't these tones and decor so dreamy?
We love first looks. Not only do they give the bride and groom some extra time together on the wedding day, but they also allow lots of room for new creative vision. With the unique emotion it brings, it's the perfect way to start the photography timeline.
One of our favorite things from Sarah & Sterling's wedding is the time we spent with them capturing wedding party photos. You can tell from the photos below just ow close these friends were. Grabbing natural, full-belly laugh photos was a piece of cake with these lovely people!
Their October wedding at the Bull Creek Ranch in Asheville, North Carolina was perfectly timed. Their ceremony was surrounded by the warm summer air and lush greenery, but as the night went on we were welcomed with the fall breeze so many love.
Before the ceremony began, they asked each of their friends and family to take a moment to stop by their rings and warm them. It was a beautiful photo seeing nearly every guest stop by the rings to send their well wishes and good vibes to this couple.
We love how the same fun energy that was evident during the wedding party photos carried itself through to the more 'formal' family portraits. Although we don't normally share formal photos, I couldn't help but share a few. Another thing that made these formal photos so special is that they invited their close friends to take part - not just family. We love that!
If you follow our blogs at all, you've heard us repeat time and time again how photos with just the bride and groom are our favorite. Well, that's still true, and definitely no different with Sarah Grace & Sterling. Combine our favorite time with their incredible personality plus the killer light we were having, and you get some gorgeous, nature-inspired photography.
As a couple that loves the outdoors & nature, it was only fitting that their gathering would compliment, not imitate, the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I can't help but notice the fun coincidence of Pantone choosing 'vibrant green' as the 2017 color of the year just months after they picked this natural tone to accent their wedding. To continue the organic-centered vibe, they chose a cozy lakeside vacation rental as their ceremony location, and even furthered the family-centered atmosphere by having outdoor seating & games, such as corn hole, to bring people together.
We especially love this sweet moment from their first dance. Surrounded by pretty fairy lights and their closest friends and family, they dances as Husband and Wife for the first time.
We especially loved how their reception felt more light a family get-together then a formal affair. Generations mixed, and people were both dancing and conversation. Although Sarah Grace & Sterling kept to some wedding day favorites, what shined was the relationships they had with their people and the shared celebration of love.
