Today, you are in for a treat! Amy & Steve's winter wedding was nothing short of magical. Although Amy & Steve wanted to say their vows outside with the gorgeous views, the frigid cold prevented a outdoor ceremony. However, thanks to the lovely charm of their venue and their creative ingenuity, they created a warm and cozy celebration that included all of our favorite things about winter time.
Getting ready moments are always sweet, but there was something different about watching Amy and her girls get ready. They were her sisters and long-time friends, so the conversation between them was fun, but touching. It was especially moving watching her friends gather around her to pray over her and her marriage with Steve.
With such an amazing location to work with (mountains, you never disappoint!), Amy and Steve decided to do a first look pre-ceremony. Before Amy stepped out of her car, though, there was a unplanned 'first look' with her Father, who had yet to see her with her hair & make up done. Spontaneous moments like this are our favorite!
Amy & Steve have always loved the mountains, so choosing the WNC area to get married seemed like a no-brainer. "It is always a refuge for us and a place to connect with family, God, nature, and each other," Amy shared in her very first message to us. We love just how much their first look embodied their idea of connection and refuge.
To save time between the ceremony and reception, we did all the the wedding party photos pre-ceremony. We especially love the boutonnieres and their earthy, natural elements.
The thought and care that went into their hand-made details and guest favors blow us away. Although Amy & Steve didn't want a 'Christmas' wedding, they acknowledged the Christmas season while keeping their wedding theme true to themselves.
Even better then ornaments and details was ceremony itself. I can't get over the way Steve's face lit up as he saw Amy walking down that aisle. There's something about the anticipation and sincerity of the ceremony that makes that precious walk special every single time.
To make their ceremony reflect who they were genuinely as a couple, Amy & Steve choose some hymns to sing with their friends and family as a act of worship, and completed communion with their guests as their first act as husband and wife. These moments were sacred and lovely.
Right before sunset, we had the opportunity to pull away Amy & Steve for some more photos together. Amy broke out her homemade shawl to wear (because remember now, it was SO. COLD). If we needed another reason to love this couple, that shawl definitely sealed the deal!
Let's take a moment to appreciate all of this fabulous reception goodness, shall we? I can't lie - these earth-conscious, nature-inspired weddings are our favorite! We love how seemlessly it all was put together.
One of our favorite details about the day, though, were Amy & Steve's gorgeous rings from Doamore. Previously recycled, these rings also give clean water to two people for life. How cool is that?! Choosing (and wearing!) ethical products such as these further confirm Amy & Steve's genuine character .
Although we don't always share reception photos- so many people and so much fun!- we had to share this shot of Amy & Steve's first dance. The genuine joy on their faces is just too cute to keep tucked away!
Amy and Steve, photographing your wedding day was such a dream! From your welcoming and warm personalities to the way you loved on your family and friends was just heartening to watch. It was so fun being a part of your special day, and we know your future together is so bright! We wish you both the absolute best.
Many of the 'vendors' for Amy & Steve's big day were friends and family! Amy's Aunt created the cake, a sister styled hair, and college roommates doubled as make-up artists and officiants. Overall, the wedding was truly a work of love - proving you can use anything to truly create a magical day.
